An antique 12 bore backaction hammer game gun with 28" browned Damascus dovetail-lump barrels that are fit with extractors, a tapered smooth concave game rib with dolls head extension and a steel bead front sight. Proved for 2-1/2" cartridges and choked Cylinder & Modified. The rib is marked "HOLLAND & HOLLAND. 98. NEW BOND STREET. LONDON." and "WINNERS OF ALL THE "FIELD" RIFLE TRIALS. LONDON. 1883." The barrels have been re-proofed in London with Nitro Proofs in 2005. The action body and locks are adorned with bouquets and scroll pattern engraving, "HOLLAND & HOLLAND" on both locks and stylized fern frond fences with a case color hardened finish. The action is fit with an extended length top strap, Braizer locks and low rebounding hammer. The smooth double triggers are protected by a blacked engraved trigger guard that extends to a long bottom tang with the serial number. Highly figured walnut stock with traditional English straight hand grip, vacant stock oval and splinter fore-end with Deeley style lever release. 14-3/8" LOP to a scored ebonite buttplate, Cast Off 1/8" at face, 6 Lbs. 12 Oz. Shotgun lives in a vintage single leather trunk case with brass corners and comes with key. The current owner has provided his research in the form of a hard copy Companion book of approximately 70 pages complete with references that provide historical insight on the gun and information on the original owner, E. Prince, Esq. The book is unique to this gun.
