An antique English made back action hammer double rifle chambered for the rare but powerful 20/.577 Express cartridge. It has 26” blacked steel dovetail lump rifled barrels fit with extractors, loop for sling, doll's head third fastener, full length rib which is file cut up to the rear sights and then smooth to the rounded large blade with a white tip front sight, gold lined folding leaf rear sights marked regulated for 50/150 and 200 yards. A peep sight is mounted to the top tang. Top of the right barrel is roll marked "HOLLAND & HOLLAND. 98 NEW BOND STREET. LONODN" while the top of the left barrel is roll marked "WINNERS OF ALL THE "FIELD" RIFLE TRIALS 1883". Bottom of Each Tube Roll Marked: "19202" (Serial Number) // Bottom of Right Tube "H2500" // Bottom of Left Tube "12". Barrels flats stamped with London proofs, "577 EX" and "G191P". The patina case color hardened finished action is engraved with light border scrolls and "HOLLAND & HOLLAND" is engraved on both lockplates and "CHARGE 7 DRAMS 20/577 BOTTLE CASE 2 3/4 INCHES" on left side of the action body. The number "2" is engraved on top of the action body near the breech and doll's head. The action is fit with peninsula locks, rebounding hammers, Jones rotary underlever, long top strap over comb, double triggers with the front being hinged protected by a blacked border scroll engraved trigger guard that extends to a full-length bottom strap with the serial number. Reddish-Brown English Walnut. Fine checkered pistol grip. Grip with horn grip cap. Beaded Cheekpiece, Loop for sling, Vacant stock oval, Splinter fore-end with checkered lever release, 14-1/2” LOP over a 1" orange rubber recoil pad, 12 Lbs. - 15 Oz. Rifle resides in its newer oak & grey/blue leather case. Case with paper Holland & Holland trade label, white handled tools, square oil bottle, snap caps and cleaning accessories.
