A special order German made scalloped back boxlock ejector 28 gauge shotgun with 28” barrels, 2-3/4" chambers, a matt tapered solid top rib with a brass front bead and a steel mid bead and are choked skeet & improved cylinder. "GEBR. MERKEL SUHL MADE IN GERMANY" is marked on the left barrel near the breech while "2001 EL 28 GA. The coin finish action body is profusely engraved with game scenes with Arabesque scrolls and features a double Kersten cross bolt third fastener. The action is signed on the left side with a "G.R." for Master Engraver Gunter Richter. The bottom has Arabesque scroll engraving with an image of a man at an anvil with "MERKEL" engraved underneath. Single trigger protected by a blacked engraved trigger guard extending to a long engraved bottom strap and a push button safety on top tang. Walnut stock with straight hand grip, 3-Piece game forend with Deeley style release, 14" LOP to a black Gerbr. Merkel scored ebonite buttplate, Cast Off 1/4 @ face, 6 Lbs. 12 Oz. Original Box.
