An antique lever action repeating rifle with full length magazine and gold plated and engraved forearm cap. The 24 inch engraved octagonal steel barrel is chambered for the .44 WCF cartridge and is built with an adjustable sporting rear sight and "Rocky Mountain" blade front sight. Top of the barrel is marked "WINCHESTER'S-REPEATING ARMS. NEW HAVEN. CT. / KING'S-IMPROVEMEN-PATENTED-MARCH 29.1866. OCTOBER 16.1860." and near the receiver "44 CAL". The engraved and gold-plated frame has an engraved brass cartridge carrier block, the lower tang has the rifle's serial number "173038A" between the lever latch and tang screw while the top tang is marked "MODEL.1873". The smooth stock has a 12-3/4" length of pull to an engraved gold plated steel crescent butt plate with sliding brass trap.
